Sharjah24: Members of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) held a detailed meeting to discuss the themes of an upcoming session. During the meeting, the Council examined the policy of the Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) in line with its parliamentary role and its commitment to improving public services and infrastructure that directly impact citizens and residents.

The meeting, held at the Council's headquarters, was chaired by Engineer Jamila Al Fandi Al Shamsi, a Member of the Council and Chairperson of the Public Utilities Committee, in the presence of the Committee members, several Council members, and Mira Khalifa Al Muqrab, Secretary General of the Consultative Council. During the meeting, the proposed questions and inquiries to be directed to the Department were reviewed in preparation for the next session, aiming to ensure a thorough and comprehensive parliamentary discussion of the Department's performance, programmes, and future plans.

During the meeting, the members discussed several key topics that will form the basis of the upcoming parliamentary debate, most notably the policies for implementing and maintaining infrastructure projects, the quality of government building and facility construction, coordination mechanisms with relevant authorities on joint projects, and the Department's plans to meet the needs of various cities and regions.

The members also discussed the importance of promoting integrated project planning and ensuring alignment between urban expansion and the increasing population growth in the emirate.

Engineer Jamila Al Fandi Al Shamsi emphasised that the Consultative Council functions based on an institutional approach that supports the work of government departments. She is eager to ensure that the next session serves as a constructive platform for exchanging ideas and providing observations that help enhance the quality of government performance. She also highlighted that the discussion of the policy of the Department of Public Works arises from its vital role in civil reconstruction, as well as the establishment and maintenance of government buildings and facilities, and in supporting the comprehensive development process in the Emirate of Sharjah.

She also emphasised that the upcoming session will be a crucial opportunity to review the efforts of the Department of Public Works and its current and future projects, as well as to assess its plans for achieving sustainable leadership in the emirate's urban development. This aligns with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in strengthening a balanced urban identity and providing an integrated infrastructure that meets the community's needs and keeps pace with rapid urban growth across various cities and regions within the emirate.
