The 29-year-old center-back suffered a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a training session on Saturday. Barcelona stated that the injury resulted from an unfortunate twist, and he will undergo conservative treatment without surgery. Spanish media reports indicate Christensen could be out for around four months.

Christensen is expected to miss Denmark’s 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff against North Macedonia in March. He joined Barcelona from Chelsea in 2012 and has faced recurring injury issues during his time at Camp Nou. His current contract with the club runs until June 2026.
