The event, organised by ASPIRE with the support of ADNOC, brought together more than 850 athletes from 60 countries. Competitors took part in 11 categories, including shooting, drone racing, robotics, martial arts, football, and basketball, competing for total prize money of approximately US$5 million.
Sheikh Zayed witnessed several phygital competitions, which combine real-world physical activity with virtual gameplay to create hybrid sports that test both digital and physical skills. The concept reflects emerging trends shaping the future of traditional sports and electronic gaming.
Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed affirmed that hosting the Games of the Future aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision to keep pace with rapid developments in the sports and creative industries, while supporting innovation and advanced technologies that integrate human capabilities with digital advancements.
The Games of the Future also brought together leading local and international companies to showcase the latest innovations in hybrid sports, artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, robotics, and drone technologies.
Participating entities included ASPIRE, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the UAE Cybersecurity Council, along with several educational institutions such as Abu Dhabi University, which offers the region’s first Bachelor of Arts in Video Game Design, supporting the growth of the gaming sector and the digital creative economy in the emirate.
