Sharjah 24 – AFP: Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by Leeds United at Anfield on Thursday in the 19th round of the English Premier League.

Disappointing start to the New Year

The defending champions began the new year with a frustrating result, remaining fourth in the table with 33 points. The draw extended Liverpool’s unbeaten run to eight matches across all competitions, including five wins and three draws.

Leeds extend unbeaten streak

Leeds secured their second draw of the season against Liverpool, following a 3-3 result earlier in the campaign. They now sit 16th with 21 points and are unbeaten in six matches, recording two wins and four draws.

Lack of cutting edge at Anfield

Despite dominating possession, Liverpool struggled to create clear scoring chances and were unable to break down Leeds’ disciplined defense.

Substitutions fail to change outcome

Manager Arne Slot made five second-half substitutions, introducing Milos Kerkács, Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister, Federico Chiesa, and teenager Rio Ngomoha, but the changes failed to spark a breakthrough.

Late scare for Liverpool

Leeds almost snatched a late winner when Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored, but the goal was ruled out for offside, denying him a seventh straight league goal.

Fulham draw at crystal palace

Elsewhere, Fulham earned a 1-1 draw away at Crystal Palace. Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring for Palace, while substitute Tom Cairney equalised late on for Fulham.

League standings update

Crystal Palace moved up to ninth place with 27 points, ahead of Fulham on goal difference. Fulham extended their unbeaten league run to four matches.
