Sharjah 24: The Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Award for the Best Doctoral Dissertation in Administrative and Financial Sciences in the Arab World held its first meeting for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The meeting, held at the University of Sharjah (UOS), was chaired by His Excellency Professor Dr Essam El-Din Ajami, Director of the University of Sharjah and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. New members joined the Board, further strengthening the Award's role in supporting research excellence in administrative and financial sciences at both the regional and international levels.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Professor Dr Essam El-Din Ajami welcomed the new members: His Excellency Major General Saif Mohammed bin Ayed Al Muhairi, Acting Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Excellence and Leadership at Dubai Police, and His Excellency Khalid Abdullah Omran Taryam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dar Al Khaleej for Press, Printing and Publishing.
National and institutional expertise
His Excellency Professor Dr Essam El-Din Ajami emphasised the University's commitment to providing the Board with diverse national and institutional expertise that will contribute to supporting and enhancing the Award's progress by developing its performance, achieving its strategic objectives, and solidifying the University of Sharjah's academic reputation as a leading institution in research and scientific excellence.
During its meeting, the board discussed several strategic themes aimed at enhancing the award's standing and developing its mechanisms. Members emphasised the Council's strategic role in guiding the award, strengthening its governance and sustainability, and focusing on added value and long-term impact.
Encompassing new scientific categories in engineering and technology
Key recommendations from the meeting included the phased expansion of the award to encompass new scientific categories in engineering and technology, aligning with the University of Sharjah's vision and the Emirate of Sharjah's future priorities. The Council also discussed exploring sustainable collaboration opportunities for the award through strategic partnerships with leading institutions such as Dar Al Khaleej. Furthermore, the board recommended developing a comprehensive digital platform for the award in partnership with the university's College of Computing, along with expanding the range of non-financial benefits for winners to enhance the award's added value.
