The programme was delivered in collaboration with the University of Sharjah (UOS), in the presence of Professor Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Sharjah; Brigadier General Expert Naji Mohammed Al Hammadi, Acting Director General of the General Department of Criminal Security and Ports; Dr Asma Al Nasiri, Director of the Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University; a number of department directors and officials from Sharjah Police; academic staff; and the graduates.
The graduation of this group is part of the teamwork between the University of Sharjah and Sharjah Police to improve the security system and to train qualified local professionals who can effectively use forensic fingerprint science to support justice and ensure community safety.
The professional diploma the forensic fingerprint expert is one of the University of Sharjah’s specialised programs, organised by the Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development. It is designed to train police officers, strengthen their skills in dealing with forensic evidence, make them better at solving crimes, and help them use the latest technology and scientific tools for collecting, sorting, studying, and comparing fingerprints according to the best professional standards.
The programme was delivered over a month, comprising 110 training hours and the participation of a number of forensic fingerprint specialists. It included theoretical and practical lectures, as well as international tests in the field of fingerprint analysis.
In his address at the graduation ceremony, Brigadier General Naji Mohammed Al Hammadi, Acting Director General of the General Department of Criminal Security and Ports, praised the implementation of the programme, noting that it was designed to keep pace with the latest practical developments in the field. He highlighted the significant efforts exerted by forensic fingerprint experts in the pursuit of justice, as well as the level of precision, skill, and advanced professional expertise required for this work.
For her part, Dr Asma Nasiri emphasised that this diploma reflects the university’s commitment to its societal and applied role, and its keenness to align the outputs of education and training with the requirements of vital sectors in the country, foremost among them the security sector, through effective partnerships with national institutions.
The ceremony finished with the honouring of the graduates and the awarding of graduation diplomas. The graduates acknowledged their delight in this academic milestone, stressing that the specific knowledge and expertise they obtained will serve as a useful contribution to strengthening the justice system and bolstering the foundations of security and stability in society.
