Sharjah24: Barcelona retained the Spanish Super Cup for the second consecutive year after defeating arch-rivals Real Madrid 3–2 in a thrilling final in Jeddah. The win marked Barcelona’s 16th Super Cup triumph, extending their record in the competition.

Barcelona owed their success to Brazilian winger Raphinha, who delivered a decisive performance by scoring twice, opening the scoring in the 36th minute and netting the winning goal in the 73rd. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski added Barcelona’s second goal, underlining the team’s attacking depth and sharpness on the big stage.

Real Madrid responded through Vinícius Júnior, who scored in stoppage time at the end of the first half, and shortly after Gonzalo García, but their comeback fell short despite late pressure.

Late drama but Barcelona hold firm

Real Madrid failed to capitalise on Frenkie de Jong’s dismissal in the first minute of added time, as Barcelona defended resolutely to secure their first win over their rivals this season. The result also extended Barcelona’s winning run to ten consecutive victories across all competitions, highlighting their impressive form.
