Sharjah24: Oklahoma City Thunder topped the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA) after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 128–110.
Center Chet Holmgren recorded 30 points and 14 rebounds, while league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Canada added 10 points and 11 assists for the defending champions, who secured their seventh consecutive victory, raising their record to 64 wins and 16 losses, with two games remaining in the regular season.
Oklahoma City secured the Western Conference lead for the third consecutive season and, with the best overall record in the league, will enjoy home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.
Holmgren, who also added five assists, two steals and four blocks, said: “This is very important, just knowing that if it comes down to a Game 7 (in the playoffs), it will always be on our home court. We saw that in the playoffs last season twice, so it is extremely important.”
He added: “It’s great to see that the hard work has paid off in some way, and now we still have more ahead of us.”
