Sharjah 24 – WAM: BEEAH, a leading regional sustainability and innovation company, and Masdar, a global clean energy leader, have signed a joint development agreement to identify and develop a portfolio of large-scale clean energy projects in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Agreement signed at World Future Energy Summit

The agreement was signed by Khaled Al Huraimel, CEO and Vice Chairman of BEEAH, and Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, during the World Future Energy Summit, held as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026.

Development of large-scale solar projects

The agreement establishes a collaborative framework for evaluating, selecting, and developing photovoltaic solar energy projects in Sharjah. Cooperation will cover all project phases, including feasibility studies, development, operation, and maintenance, as well as grid readiness assessments, solar resource analysis, and site preparation. The partnership will also explore hybrid battery energy storage systems to enhance grid resilience.

Building a diversified renewable energy infrastructure

Khaled Al Huraimel said the growing demand for clean energy in Sharjah requires a diversified and flexible renewable energy infrastructure. He highlighted BEEAH’s commitment to improving quality of life through clean electricity initiatives, including the Sharjah Waste-to-Energy Plant, and noted that the agreement strengthens a partnership that has already delivered landmark energy projects.

Extending strategic cooperation

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said the agreement builds on the existing collaboration between BEEAH and Masdar, which previously delivered the Middle East’s first commercial waste-to-energy plant. He highlighted Sharjah’s strong solar potential and Masdar’s commitment to supporting the emirate’s environmental goals through high-quality, commercially viable renewable energy projects.

Supporting UAE clean energy goals

The agreement reflects the UAE’s broader strategy to accelerate the transition to clean energy under its Climate Neutrality 2050 initiative and its goal to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030, contributing to a more diversified and sustainable national energy mix.

Advancing innovative energy solutions

BEEAH has integrated clean energy solutions across its operations, including a solar power plant at its headquarters that helped achieve LEED Platinum certification. The company is also studying opportunities to convert closed landfill sites into solar power plants and to generate electricity from landfill gas.
