Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Allay explained that Athens was selected because it is one of the world’s oldest civilisations, with a rich visual and cultural history that has shaped the foundations of the arts and humanities. This choice aligns with the festival’s vision of promoting visual storytelling and highlighting photography’s role in preserving human memory.
He added that Greece’s participation will showcase contemporary photographic experiences from Greek society, reflecting social transformations, identity, and daily life through works that present powerful human stories blending heritage and modernity.
Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau emphasised that the selection of Athens strengthens cultural dialogue between East and West and highlights photography as a bridge for understanding between peoples. He noted that this adds a rich cultural and narrative dimension to Xposure 2026, offering the public a unique visual and intellectual experience.
Allay concluded by inviting the public to visit the festival and explore its exhibitions until February 4, 2026, in the Aljada, Sharjah.
