Sharjah 24: The organising committee for the third session of the third term of the Arab Parliament for the Child (APC) held a coordination meeting at the Parliament's headquarters in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Ayman Othman Al-Barout, Secretary-General of APC, and attended by members of the organising committee.

The meeting warmly welcomed Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and congratulated him on joining the Arab Children's Parliament as Assistant Secretary-General and Vice-Chairman of the organising committee for the third session of the fourth term.

The attendees discussed comprehensive preparations for receiving APC members from various Arab countries, in anticipation of the launch of the third session of the third term. The third session is scheduled to be held on February 14 at the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) headquarters.

Meeting preparation

During the meeting, the organising committees presented a detailed report highlighting the efforts undertaken across all aspects of hosting the event. These efforts included logistical arrangements for receiving delegations, providing accommodation and comfort, the program of field visits, and specialised training workshops designed to enhance the skills of young parliamentarians and familiarise them with parliamentary mechanisms.

Translating efforts into tangible results

It was emphasised that this session, held under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and with the direct follow-up of His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, aims to translate this high level of care and attention into tangible results that ensure the success of the parliament's work and the realisation of children's visions and aspirations within a distinguished Arab institutional framework.

The meeting also addressed strategic partnerships with local and international supporting entities and mechanisms for developing accompanying programmes and activities.

Empowering Arab children

The agenda for the meetings of the specialised committees to be held on the sidelines of the session was also coordinated. These include the Committee on the Rights of the Child and the Committee on Activities, as well as the editorial meeting for the "Little Parliament Magazine," an important media platform for expressing members' voices and promoting a culture of participation and dialogue. Coordination was also undertaken for the graduation ceremony of the Parliamentary Diploma Programme, in partnership with the University of Sharjah.

The meeting concluded with all attendees emphasising the need for concerted efforts and enhanced cooperation among all parties involved in organising the event. This collaboration aims to ensure a distinguished and productive session of the Arab Children's Parliament, achieving the desired goals of empowering Arab children and strengthening their role in building a promising future for Arab childhood.
