The meeting’s goals align with the insightful vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who believes that the development of Arab children is essential for progress and helps build conscious Arab individuals capable of contributing positively to society.
The meeting was attended by Ayman Othman Al-Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for the Child; Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Assistant Secretary-General of the APC; Elias bin Awad Al Maani, President of the APC; Abdullah Bu Jiri, First Vice-President of the APC; Mai Jalal, Second Vice-President of the APC; Rabia Abu Rumman, Head of the Committee on the Rights of the Child; Nasser bin Talal Al Husseini, Head of the Activities Committee; and Majid Ali Al Marzouqi, Secretary of the General Secretariat. The attendees stressed the importance of the next stage, which requires expanding the scope of quality programs and deepening the APC’s institutional impact as a comprehensive Arab platform that shapes the personality of the Arab child and develops their parliamentary awareness.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation with the Sharjah Children’s Shura Council and the Sharjah Youth Shura Council to achieve integration of roles and share experiences in empowerment and community leadership. The meeting went on to review a list of programs designed to help expand knowledge in parliamentary work, and to coordinate to include more Arab children in editing the Parliament magazine.
The meeting discussed several of the members’ proposals, related to topics that are included in the upcoming work agenda, planning to engage Arab children in decision-making, and promoting the concept of participation from early stages.
The attendees affirmed that the APC, launched in Sharjah, represents a pioneering Arab model that can invest in children’s future, demonstrating Sharjah’s commitment to supporting Arab collaborations in creating a conscious and responsible Arab generation contributing to the Arab societies’ prosperity.
