UOS launches 14th International Dental Student Conference

Sharjah 24: The University of Sharjah has launched the 14th International Student Dental Conference (ISDC 2026), held under the slogan “Inspired by Smiles, Driven by Knowledge.” The two-day event is organised by the University’s Dental Student Association and brings together a global community of dental students and professionals.

Strong international participation

The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, alongside vice chancellors, deans, faculty members, and hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students, practising dentists, and specialists from more than 30 countries.

Opening ceremony reflects university vision

The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem and Quran recitations, followed by an address from Prof. Agamy. He described the conference as a clear reflection of the University’s vision, set by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, which integrates scientific excellence with humanitarian values. He highlighted the importance of student-led initiatives in shaping globally competitive graduates who remain committed to societal responsibility.

Comprehensive scientific and educational programme

Acting Dean of the College of Dental Medicine, Dr. Sausan Al Kawas, noted that the conference features a diverse programme of specialist lectures, hands-on workshops, scientific debates, and research competitions. With more than 600 participants from dozens of countries, she said the event demonstrates the conference’s growing international standing and its role in enhancing clinical skills and professional development.

Advancing dental education and research

Dr Ibrahim Bayramm, academic supervisor of the Dental Student Association, described the conference as a key pillar in the University’s efforts to advance medical education and research. He emphasised that the conference slogan reflects the essential role of knowledge in achieving excellence in patient care and professional growth.

Student leadership and innovation

Marwan Al Khatib, President of the Dental Student Association, expressed pride in hosting the 14th edition of the conference. He said the event provides an interactive platform for discussion and idea exchange, preparing the next generation of dentists to lead and innovate in the healthcare sector.

Exhibition and research showcases

The opening concluded with tours of sponsor booths presenting the latest oral health technologies, as well as a poster exhibition featuring student research across various dental specialties. Participants praised the conference for enhancing clinical expertise, introducing advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, and reflecting the University of Sharjah’s strong organisational standards and supportive academic environment.
