At the outset of the episode, delivered in a reflective and educational spirit, Dr Al Doubi emphasised that reaching Ramadan is not an ordinary occurrence but a divine grace deserving of gratitude and praise. He noted that many had longed to witness this noble month, yet their appointed time came before it arrived, placing a responsibility upon those who do reach it to make the most of its days and nights through worship and devotion.
He reflected on the meaning of welcoming Ramadan, citing the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) words on the arrival of the month of Ramadan. He explained that this Prophetic call carries a clear invitation to renew one’s resolve, strengthen determination, and embrace a spirit of diligence and earnest effort from the very first moments of the month. He added that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would receive Ramadan with hearts filled with longing, preparing for it through acts of devotion in recognition of its immense reward and lofty status.
Dr Al Doubi also addressed the virtues of fasting, describing it as a profound act of worship singled out for special merit and reward by Allah, owing to its embodiment of sincerity, patience and self-discipline. He explained that fasting is not merely abstaining from food and drink, but a comprehensive school of spiritual refinement that nurtures moral character, disciplines conduct, and instils the value of piety in a Muslim’s life, citing the Quranic verse, on the attainment of taqwa.
He affirmed that Ramadan is a sacred season in which good deeds are multiplied, the gates of mercy are opened, and tranquillity descends upon hearts. He urged believers to make the most of every moment by reciting the Quran, observing prayers, engaging in abundant remembrance and charity, maintaining family ties, and reconciling differences, so that Ramadan becomes a genuine turning point in one’s life.
