The “Sharjah Reciters” programme is among the most prominent Ramadan Quranic initiatives. It features a distinguished group of accomplished reciters with refined performance and melodious voices, who take turns leading worshippers in prayer at a number of mosques across the Emirate. The programme aims to highlight the beauty of Quranic recitation and to connect worshippers with the Quran in a spiritual setting that reflects the significance of the holy month.
The “Districts of Sharjah Reciters” programme further underscores the department’s commitment to inclusivity and ensuring its initiatives reach residential areas across the Emirate. A number of neighbourhood imams and reciters are assigned to rotate in leading prayers at designated district mosques, enabling residents to listen to a variety of recitations. The initiative enhances mosque attendance and deepens community engagement during Ramadan.
At Martyr Sami Al Marzouqi Mosque, the department implements the “UAE Reciters” programme in cooperation with the Quran Radio and Channel from Sharjah. This Quranic initiative aims to showcase Emirati talents among memorisers of the Holy Quran and strengthen their presence in the Quranic sphere during the blessed month. It reflects Sharjah’s commitment to nurturing Quranic talent, empowering national reciters, and connecting younger generations with the Quran through exemplary models of memorisation, mastery and eloquent recitation.
As part of its focus on scholarly specialisation in the sciences of the Quran, the department organises the Ten Qira’at programme at Imam Al Nawawi Mosque in Al Manakh area, under the supervision of specialised reciters and imams. The programme introduces audiences to the foundations and principles of the canonical Quranic readings, clarifying the differences between them, and contributing to the dissemination of Quranic knowledge through an accessible approach that combines instruction with practical application.
The Ramadan plan also includes designated mosques for complete Quran recitation (khatmah) across the Emirate, reviving the tradition of completing the Quran during Ramadan and offering worshippers the opportunity to follow the full recitation of the Quran in a devotional atmosphere marked by tranquillity and reverence.
