In Turin, Juventus — reduced to ten men — surged into a commanding 3–0 lead. However, despite their heroic effort on home soil, Galatasaray held their nerve and progressed thanks to crucial goals in extra time.
The breakthrough came in the 37th minute when Manuel Locatelli converted from the penalty spot, igniting hopes of a comeback. But just three minutes into the second half, Juventus suffered a major setback as Lloyd Kelly was shown a straight red card.
Refusing to surrender, the “Old Lady” continued to push forward. Defender Federico Gatti doubled the lead in the 70th minute, and American midfielder Weston McKennie made it 3–0 in the 82nd minute, putting Juventus ahead 5–3 on aggregate at that stage. Galatasaray, meanwhile, struggled to create meaningful chances during regular time.
The momentum shifted dramatically in extra time. Galatasaray, managed by Okan Buruk, found renewed energy and composure.
Victor Osimhen pulled one back in first-half stoppage time of extra time (105+1), finishing a decisive pass from Barış Alper Yılmaz. Then, just moments before the final whistle (119), Yılmaz scored himself, assisted by Osimhen, sealing Galatasaray’s place in the Round of 16 despite their 3–2 defeat on the night.
Juventus’ spirited comeback ultimately fell short, as Galatasaray advanced on aggregate in one of the competition’s most dramatic playoff encounters.
