Ajax appoints Oscar Garcia as head coach

Restoring the club’s former glory

The 52-year-old Garcia has previously managed Brighton & Hove Albion in England and Saint-Étienne and Reims in France. He was also in charge of Ajax's reserve team and faces the difficult task of restoring the club to its former glory.

After winning the Dutch league title 36 times, Ajax has not won the championship since 2012 and currently sits in fifth place, 24 points behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven.

Ajax suffered another defeat on Saturday, this time away from home against Groningen 1-3, a loss that sealed the fate of their rivals.
