In a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and reported by the Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom affirmed that it reserves the full right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and sovereignty, ensure the safety of citizens and residents, and deter any form of aggression.
The Kingdom added that attacks on civilian facilities, airports and oil installations demonstrate a clear intent to undermine security and stability, describing them as a blatant violation of international conventions and international law.
Saudi Arabia also addressed remarks by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who said Iran had no intention of attacking neighbouring countries. The Kingdom stated that these comments have not been reflected in reality.
“The Kingdom affirms that the Iranian side has not implemented this declaration on the ground, either during the president’s speech or afterward, and has continued its attacks based on unfounded justifications that lack any factual basis,” the statement said.
Saudi Arabia also rejected allegations that fighter jets and aerial refuelling aircraft launched from the Kingdom were involved in the conflict.
Riyadh clarified that these aircraft are conducting defensive patrols aimed at monitoring and protecting the airspace of Saudi Arabia and other GCC states from Iranian missiles and drones.
The ministry reiterated that strikes on civilian locations, airports and oil facilities reflect a persistent effort to threaten regional security and stability, and again emphasised that such actions represent a clear breach of international conventions and international law.
The Kingdom further warned that Iran’s continued attacks signal a dangerous escalation and could have serious repercussions for relations both now and in the future. It added that Tehran’s actions towards Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states do not reflect prudence or a genuine desire to avoid a wider confrontation, one in which Iran would ultimately stand to lose the most.
