According to Turki Al Malki, the official spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defence, the drones were intercepted and destroyed on the morning of 17 May 2026 after entering the Kingdom’s airspace from Iraq.
Major General Al Malki stated that the Ministry of Defence reserves the right to respond at the appropriate time and place.
He added that the ministry will take and implement all necessary operational measures to respond to any attempt to undermine the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security and the safety of citizens and residents.
