The initiative was launched during the Holy Month of Ramadan by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, with the aim of raising AED1 billion to support global efforts to combat childhood hunger.
Sheikh Hamdan commended the high level of public involvement in the campaign, describing it as a strong display of national unity and a reflection of the UAE’s values of generosity and compassion.
He noted that the broad participation shows the community’s commitment to turning these values into real support for millions of vulnerable people worldwide.
Sheikh Hamdan praised contributors and supporters for their role in promoting the campaign’s humanitarian goal of tackling childhood hunger in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
He stated that the campaign’s success demonstrates Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to strengthen the UAE’s role as a worldwide centre for humanitarian efforts.
The Edge of Life campaign is run by MBRGI in collaboration with UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, and Action Against Hunger.
The initiative specifically targets children experiencing hunger in communities affected by conflict and natural disasters, where global statistics show that five children under five die every minute from hunger and malnutrition.
The meeting was attended by Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; and Saeed Al Eter, Chief Executive Officer of MBRGI.
