Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has strongly condemned ongoing Iranian attacks on member states, including the deliberate targeting of infrastructure and oil facilities, calling them violations of international law and a threat to regional security and global energy supplies.

Escalation and security concerns

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said the استمرار these attacks reflects an escalatory approach by Iran, undermining de-escalation efforts and posing risks to both regional and international stability.

Rejection of Iranian claims

Albudaiwi rejected what he described as baseless Iranian accusations against GCC countries, reaffirming the bloc’s commitment to sovereignty, non-interference, and the promotion of peace and security.

Right to self-defence

He stressed that GCC states reserve their right under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter to take necessary measures to protect their security, resources, and stability in response to such attacks.

Call for international action

The GCC urged the international community to take a firm stance, condemn the violations, and pressure Iran to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) to halt attacks and maintain regional stability.

Unity among GCC states

Albudaiwi concluded by highlighting the unity and solidarity of GCC members in confronting threats and reaffirmed their commitment to joint efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region.
