Sharjah24: West Ham moved out of the relegation zone with an emphatic 4–0 victory over bottom-placed Wolverhampton at the start of matchweek 32 in the English Premier League.

The win increased the pressure on Tottenham, who dropped to 18th place in the relegation zone ahead of their clash with Sunderland on Sunday. West Ham raised their tally to 32 points in 17th place, two points clear of Spurs in 18th.

Wolves remain rooted to the bottom

Meanwhile, Wolverhampton stayed on 17 points in 20th and last place, continuing their steady slide towards relegation.

West Ham owed their victory to the outstanding performances of Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who scored twice (42nd and 83rd minutes), and Argentine forward Valentín Castellanos, who struck in quick succession (66th and 68th minutes).

Tottenham eye escape under new manager

Tottenham have a chance to climb out of the relegation zone if they beat hosts Sunderland, in what will be Italian manager Roberto De Zerbi’s first match in charge of the London club.

Tottenham are aiming to avoid relegation to the second division for the first time since the 1977–78 season.
