Arab Parliament urges NAM to oppose Israel prisoner execution law

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, called on the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN) to take a decisive position against Israel’s death penalty law targeting Palestinian prisoners.

Call for international resolution and action

Speaking at the network’s fifth conference in Istanbul, Al Yamahi stressed that the NAM PN represents the conscience of the free world, urging the adoption of a resolution rejecting and condemning the legislation, along with mobilising international efforts to prevent its implementation.

Condemnation of controversial legislation

“It is inconceivable that this international parliamentary gathering, which has long championed just causes, would meet without taking a clear position on racist legislation that authorises the execution of thousands of innocent prisoners before the eyes of the world,” Al Yamahi said.

Focus on climate resilience and urban development

Addressing the conference’s main theme, “The Role of Parliaments in Ensuring Climate-Resilient Urbanisation in the Non-Aligned Movement Region,” he highlighted that climate adaptation is no longer optional but an urgent necessity.

Strengthening legislative frameworks for climate action

Al Yamahi called for enhanced legislative frameworks to integrate climate considerations into urban planning, aiming to address the growing challenges faced by cities worldwide.
