Gold declines as stronger dollar weighs on prices

Sharjah24 - WAM: Gold prices moved lower on Monday as the US dollar strengthened, reducing demand for the precious metal. Spot gold fell 0.7 percent to US$4,793.98 per ounce by 03:51 GMT, after dropping earlier in the session to its lowest level since April 13.

US gold futures for June delivery declined 1.4 percent to US$4,813.60 per ounce.

Other metals follow downward trend

Prices of other precious metals also weakened. Spot silver fell 0.9 percent to US$80.04 per ounce, while platinum dropped 0.5 percent to US$2,093.56. Palladium remained largely unchanged at US$1,558.60 per ounce.
