In a qualitative step reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a leading hub for qualifying specialised aviation professionals, the center signed the agreement to delegate the authority of issuing security screener licenses, regulate their training in cooperation with Sharjah Police, and support the development of the civil aviation security and safety system according to top global standards.
The agreement was signed on Monday at the center’s headquarters, in the presence of Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the center’s Board of Directors, and Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority, along with several officials from both sides.
The agreement supports national efforts to develop human capabilities in the aviation sector and enhance compliance with national aviation security regulations and programmes through specialised training that prepares security screeners according to the latest international standards.
Under the agreement, the General Civil Aviation Authority delegated the center to issue licenses for security screeners working at the country’s airports and ports of entry. The Sharjah Police General Headquarters will implement training programmes, in addition to advanced training, issuing and renewing licenses and certificates, applying approved aviation security procedures, and supporting security inspection operations using the latest technologies.
Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qasimi said the agreement represents a strategic step that strengthens the center’s role in qualifying specialized aviation security personnel, keeping pace with the sector’s rapid growth and reflecting commitment to national and international aviation security requirements. He added that the center provides an integrated training environment combining advanced technologies and expertise to prepare qualified personnel capable of addressing evolving challenges and enhancing security readiness locally and globally.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi stated that the agreement reflects the Authority’s commitment to strengthening civil aviation safety and security in the UAE by developing human competencies according to the highest international standards. He noted that granting the center licensing authority, alongside training by Sharjah Police, reflects confidence in its advanced capabilities and highlights the importance of national partnerships. He added that investing in human capital is key to ensuring sustainability and enhancing the UAE’s position as a global aviation hub.
Following the signing, attendees toured the center’s facilities, reviewing the latest equipment and training systems used to qualify security personnel, as well as specialised programmes that enhance skills and readiness, supporting the aviation sector with highly professional human capital.
