According to the announced schedule, flights will commence on Thursday, 5 February, operating five times a week using Boeing 737 aircraft. The new route is expected to meet growing travel demand and offer passengers greater flexibility and convenience between the two destinations.
The addition of Ahmedabad to Sharjah Airport’s destination network aligns with the airport’s strategy to broaden its international presence and attract more airlines, particularly from high-growth markets such as India, one of the airport’s most significant inbound and outbound passenger markets.
His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority, welcomed the launch of the new SpiceJet flights from Ahmedabad. He noted that the addition of this route is part of the Authority’s continuous efforts to enhance the passenger experience by offering diverse travel options and highly efficient operational services. He explained that the airport continues to invest in developing its facilities and smart services to ensure smooth procedures and faster passenger movement, thereby increasing customer satisfaction in line with growing passenger numbers.
Al Midfa added that the Authority is steadily building long-term strategic partnerships with airlines, opening new avenues for cooperation and expanding the destination network. This approach reflects Sharjah Airport’s vision of strengthening its position as a regional travel hub that combines service quality, operational efficiency, and a fully integrated passenger experience.
For his part, Dibyendu Maharshi, Chief Commercial Officer at SpiceJet, said: “The launch of our new service between Ahmedabad and Sharjah is an important addition to
SpiceJet’s international network and reflects the strong and growing demand for travel between India and the United Arab Emirates. Sharjah has long been a key destination for Indian travellers, whether for work, tourism, or visiting family, and this new service will provide a reliable and comfortable travel option. We look forward to working closely with the Sharjah International Airport Authority as we continue to strengthen our presence in the region and expand air connectivity from major Indian cities.”
The launch of this route comes as part of Sharjah Airport’s continued expansion of its destination network. Several new destinations have recently been added, including Krabi, Munich, Prague, Warsaw Modlin, Vienna, Addis Ababa, and Sochi, with direct flights to London expected to begin in March.
During 2025, Sharjah Airport successfully expanded its network to more than 100 global destinations, welcomed four new international airlines, and introduced additional services. Significant operational improvements have also been implemented, accelerating passenger movement and reducing waiting times.
The Sharjah International Airport Authority reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with airline partners to further develop its network and deliver a smooth, efficient, and high-quality travel experience for all passengers.
