More than 154 participants took part in the workshops, while the “My Language, My Identity” competition attracted 108 contestants. It featured a range of Arabic-language questions aimed at encouraging engagement and enhancing participants’ linguistic knowledge.
This initiative forms part of the council’s ongoing efforts to deliver quality programmes that empower families and strengthen their role in supporting the educational journey, reinforcing younger generations’ connection to their language and identity, and developing their abilities in expression and creativity.
The initiative included a series of educational and interactive workshops designed to develop enriched linguistic skills among students and the wider community. It began with the first workshop, titled “Vocabulary Shapes Identity”, delivered by Arabic language specialist teacher Afaq Al Nuaimi, which focused on the importance of vocabulary in shaping individual awareness and strengthening cultural belonging, while presenting practical methods to develop children’s vocabulary.
The second workshop, “My Skill in My Story”, was presented by teacher Ikhlas Mahmoud, a writer and Arabic language specialist. It aimed to develop students’ storytelling skills and encourage them to express themselves in Arabic through a creative style that reflects their personalities and builds confidence.
The programme concluded with the workshop “My Library, the Source of My Language”, delivered by Dr Rasha Al Matrooshi and Khawla Al Naqbi. It highlighted the role of reading in language development and the importance of building a home library that fosters a love of reading among children.
