Sharjah 24: FANN Media Discovery Platform has concluded its series of programmes and workshops for April, as part of its ongoing efforts to empower young people to discover their creative skills and develop their capabilities in photography and media arts.

Workshops and photography training

The programmes included a specialised workshop and the “Introduction to Photography – Level 1” programme, aimed at developing visual storytelling and photography skills.

The first workshop, titled “Create Your Story with Artificial Intelligence”, delivered an interactive online experience under the supervision of Aisha Khalifa. It targeted participants aged 10 and above, introducing them to how AI tools on Canva can be used to turn ideas into creative visual stories by combining writing and design to produce simple illustrated narratives, with a focus on expressing emotions and ideas in a personal and creative way.

The second programme, “Photography Programme – Level 1”, was supervised by photographer Ahmed Al Raisi in collaboration with Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah and Sharjah Youth. It provided participants with an integrated learning experience combining theory and practice, starting from the basics of composition and lighting to mastering manual camera settings.

It also included field photography trips to several landmarks in the Emirate of Sharjah, including Sharjah Mosque and Al Noor Island, where participants applied what they had learned in practice and received direct feedback to help improve their skills and the quality of their work.

Skill development and learning outcomes

The programme equipped participants with the fundamentals of photography, understanding camera operation and perspective, mastering composition rules, and learning the impact of lighting on image quality. This enhanced their creative abilities, developed their visual sense, and built a knowledge base enabling them to pursue a future professional pathway.

The workshops featured highly interactive environments reflecting participants’ enthusiasm and desire to learn and experiment, giving them the opportunity to express their ideas in innovative ways combining technology and art.

Institutional vision and leadership

The programmes align with FANN’s vision of supporting emerging talent and providing a stimulating educational environment that helps prepare a creative generation capable of using modern tools in producing innovative media and visual content.

Huda Al Harmoodi, Deputy Director General of FANN, confirmed the organisation’s commitment to offering quality programmes that develop young people’s creative skills and enhance their ability to use modern technologies in producing innovative media content aligned with contemporary developments.
