UAE, Syrian religious authorities promote moderate fatwas, unity

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Dr Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, met with Shaikh Osama Abdulkarim Al Rifai, Chairman of the Supreme Fatwa Council and Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic, in Damascus on the sidelines of the Syrian-UAE Investment Forum.

Focus on moderation and addressing societal issues

The two sides discussed issuing moderate fatwas that address societal needs with wisdom, balance, and facilitation, while supporting efforts to build a cohesive society based on mutual respect and cooperation.

Rejecting extremism and promoting unity

They stressed the importance of confronting extremist ideologies that fuel division and hatred, and emphasized strengthening unity within communities through responsible religious guidance.

Enhancing cooperation between religious institutions

Both sides affirmed that cooperation between religious scholars and institutions helps unify efforts, exchange expertise, and support well-founded religious rulings that reflect the values of Islam while engaging with modern developments.
