Sharjah 24 – WAM: President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmad Al Sharaa, Tuesday received Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, at the Presidential Headquarters in the People’s Palace during his official visit to Damascus.

UAE delegation conveys leadership greetings to Syrian President

Dr Al Zeyoudi conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with their wishes for continued prosperity and development for Syria and its people.

Syrian President affirms strong bilateral relations and cooperation

President Al Sharaa asked Al Zeyoudi to convey his greetings to the UAE leadership, affirming the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two countries and their shared commitment to sustainable development and progress.

Discussions on trade, investment, and economic cooperation

The two sides, in the presence of senior officials including Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Dr Omar Al Derei, and Mohamed Alabbar, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment and support Syria’s economic recovery efforts.

UAE reaffirms support for Syria’s economic recovery

Al Zeyoudi reaffirmed the UAE’s support for Syria’s economic recovery, highlighting the importance of building promising economic partnerships and expanding cooperation across key sectors.

Major UAE business delegation accompanies official visit

The delegation included more than 140 participants representing government officials and private sector leaders from sectors such as trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, technology, agriculture, and transport.

Bilateral meetings to enhance strategic economic partnership

Dr Al Zeyoudi also held bilateral meetings with several Syrian ministers to explore strategic cooperation in priority sectors and develop a roadmap for strengthening economic ties.

Non-oil trade reaches record growth in 2025

Non-oil bilateral trade between the UAE and Syria reached around US$1.4 billion in 2025, marking a 132.4% increase compared to the previous year, reflecting growing economic momentum between the two countries.

UAE highlights strong outlook for future economic ties

Dr Al Zeyoudi said the visit reflects the UAE’s commitment to supporting Syria’s recovery, noting strong prospects for expanding trade, investment, and joint projects that deliver sustainable economic benefits.

UAE-Syria Business Forum explores new opportunities

The visit also included participation in the First UAE-Syria Business Forum, which brought together officials and business leaders to explore trade opportunities and strengthen long-term economic partnerships between the two countries.
