UAE and Syria strengthen ties amid regional tensions

The message was received by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his meeting with Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al-Shaibani.

Condemnation of Iranian missile attacks

 During the meeting, the leaders discussed the repercussions of Iran’s brutal and terrorist missile attacks on the UAE and several allied nations. Both Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Asaad Al-Shaibani strongly condemned these attacks, affirming the right of affected countries to take necessary measures to protect their sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors, in accordance with international law.

Asaad Al-Shaibani also confirmed Syria’s full solidarity with the UAE and support for all measures ensuring its security and stability. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed his gratitude to Al-Shaibani for Syria’s supportive stance.

Fraternal relations and cooperation

 The two sides discussed the brotherly relations between the UAE and Syria and explored ways to enhance cooperation to serve their mutual interests and foster prosperity for their peoples. Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Al-Shaibani, reiterating the UAE’s support for Syria and initiatives that contribute to comprehensive development and sustainable economic growth.

Regional developments and dialogue

 The meeting also reviewed current developments in the region, highlighting the importance of prioritising dialogue and diplomatic solutions to resolve crises and outstanding issues, thereby contributing to regional and international security.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, and His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Deputy Minister of State.
