SCHS launches the "Self-Advocates" media campaign

Sharjah 24: Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services launched its self-advocacy media campaign, "Together for Progress," on Wednesday morning at the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research. The campaign featured self-advocates and families of people with disabilities, who took part in the launch.

Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, stated that the SCHS shows commitment to supporting self-advocacy. She mentioned that the SCHS established a special self-advocacy unit led by Sheikha Shaikha Al Qasimi. The city has consistently offered support, advocacy, and empowerment to people with disabilities so they can secure their rights and lead normal lives.

In a statement to Sharjah 24, Al Yafei explained that the media campaign included workshops and seminars with self-advocates. The goal was to encourage them to demand their rights and raise awareness of those rights in the community.
