SCHS discusses inclusion in higher education at UODH

Sharjah 24: Dr Heba Sharif, Head of the Student Counseling Centre at the University of Al Dhaid (UODH), stated that Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), in cooperation with the university, organised a dialogue seminar entitled "Post-Secondary... Building Bridges to Inclusive Higher Education" on Thursday morning at the university.

Inclusion policies in education and best practices

The seminar discussed inclusion policies in education and best practices, and reviewed the experiences of several students with disabilities who continued their university studies, the obstacles they faced, and how they overcame them. The event was attended by Her Excellency Mona Abdulkarim Al Yafei, Director General of SCHS; Her Excellency Dr Aisha Abu Shlaibi, Chancellor of UODH, and a number of officials and academics. 

Dr Heba Sharif explained that the seminar addressed several topics related to building bridges between secondary and university education, inclusion policies in higher education, and best practices for providing students with disabilities with disabilities the best possible education.

Providing the best educational environment for students with disabilities

Speaking exclusively to “Sharjah 24,” Dr Sharif noted that the seminar showcased the experiences of several students with disabilities who pursued their university studies, the difficulties they faced, and how they overcame them. They shared their experiences, emphasising the importance of providing the best educational environment for students with disabilities to continue their education and contribute to society.
