UAE reaches 11 medals at GCC Games in Doha 2026

Sharjah 24: The UAE delegation has increased its medal tally at the 4th GCC Games – Doha 2026, held from 11 to 22 May, to 11 medals, comprising two gold, two silver, and seven bronze.

The UAE continued its strong showing across multiple sports, with Abdulaziz Almheiri winning gold in taekwondo (men’s under-68kg), Maha Rabie securing silver (women’s under-57kg), and Salma Al Ketbi taking bronze (women’s under-67kg), highlighting the team’s strong presence in the competition.

Medals in fencing, swimming, equestrian and athletics

Additional medals came in fencing, swimming, athletics, and equestrian events, including bronze medals for Fares Al Balooshi, Shaikha Al Zaabi, and Hussain Shawqi, a silver in team show jumping, and bronze for Ayoob Sarwashi in race walk, as UAE teams maintained momentum across disciplines.

Praise for team performance and support

UAE Fencing Federation official Ali Al Kindi praised the team’s performance and expressed confidence in achieving further success, commending athletes, technical staff, and organisers for their efforts and support.
