UAE condemns drone attack on commercial vessel in Qatari waters

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the terrorist drone attack targeting a commercial cargo vessel in the territorial waters of the sisterly State of Qatar, which caused a limited fire onboard without resulting in injuries.

UAE affirms solidarity with Qatar

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the terrorist attack constitutes a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability.

The UAE expressed its full solidarity with Qatar and its support for all measures aimed at preserving the country’s security and stability.

Attack violates international resolutions and maritime security

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the attack represents a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasises freedom of navigation and rejects the targeting of commercial vessels or disruption of international maritime routes.

The ministry added that targeting commercial navigation and using the Strait of Hormuz as a means of pressure or economic blackmail are acts of piracy that pose a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security.
