Local authorities and organisers said rail and bus services linking New York to MetLife Stadium have been made more affordable following earlier pricing adjustments.
New Jersey Governor Micky Sherrill announced on “X” that round-trip train tickets, used by around 40,000 fans per match, will now cost $98, down from an initial $150 (€127) and a revised $105. The fare increase had previously sparked criticism, with authorities citing $48 million in infrastructure and security costs.
Bus fares have also been reduced significantly, with round-trip tickets now capped at $20 instead of the earlier $80. Organisers said fans who already purchased tickets will be reimbursed, and bus capacity has been increased to serve between 12,000 and 18,000 spectators per match.
MetLife Stadium, located about 15 kilometers from Manhattan and set to host the World Cup final on July 19, has limited and costly parking, making public transport a key option for fans.
