Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, affirmed that the unification of the armed forces was an exceptional decision in a difficult period during which the agreement of the founding leaders was the factor of its stability, and the launch of the distinguished march of the United Arab Emirates, with the efforts of the loyal sons and daughters of the nation, who flocked to join the armed forces to serve the homeland, preserve its soil and defend it.
In his speech on the 47th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces, published in the Nation Shield magazine, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed said, “Today we celebrate an important anniversary in the history of the United Arab Emirates, which is the anniversary of the unification of the armed forces, which was a turning point in protecting the strong union of the state and preserving its foundations and independent entity; and with this event, the march of the fortified shield, the solid wall, and the honest hand on the country's gains and achievements, was launched.”
He added: The achievements of the armed forces were not limited to protecting the land and honour, but rather its lofty and humanitarian message was launched in extending a helping hand and assisting the needy, standing by the brothers in exceptional circumstances, championing the truth and defending the weak in all countries, and honorable stances and immortal sacrifices that the UAE leadership and people are proud of have been recorded in its history.
On this occasion, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed extended his congratulations to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and his two deputies, and to their brothers, Their Highnesses, Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, and to all officers, non-commissioned officers and members of our armed forces, praying to God to preserve our country with safety, security, progress and prosperity.”
