Specialised field teams conduct both scheduled and surprise visits to warehouses, workshops, and commercial premises to evaluate the effectiveness of fire suppression and alarm systems, the safety of electrical installations, and the proper storage of flammable materials.
In addition to inspection duties, the campaigns include on-site awareness sessions, advice on best safety practices, and efforts to promote a culture of prevention in the workplace.
Brigadier General Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, highlighted that ongoing visits reflect a proactive effort to reduce risks before they occur. He explained that the Authority operates within a comprehensive strategic plan that ensures community safety and aligns with Sharjah’s sustainable development goals. ‘Safety requires collective awareness and participation,” he stated. “Our campaigns aim to foster this understanding in line with the vision of our wise leadership to make Sharjah a model city for safety and prevention.”
The Authority continually enhances its inspection framework by adopting advanced technologies for swift and precise risk assessments. These innovations assist in identifying high-priority sites and implementing immediate improvement plans. Furthermore, field teams receive ongoing training to maintain international safety standards. The Authority also organises public workshops and awareness sessions across the emirate to boost preparedness and reinforce a safety culture among residents and workers alike.
Sharjah Civil Defence’s ongoing initiatives demonstrate its vision to establish a safe, resilient, and sustainable environment that supports the local economy and provides an ideal setting for investment and productivity.
The Authority continues to translate the outcomes of its inspection campaigns into training and educational programmes that enhance preparedness across industrial and commercial sectors, thereby helping to reduce risks and strengthen Sharjah’s reputation as one of the safest cities in the region.
