Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), in cooperation with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA), organised a dialogue session under the theme “Taxation as a Tool for Economic Development and Investment Stimulation.” The session examined the legislative framework of the UAE’s tax system and highlighted procedures related to Value Added Tax (VAT), while emphasising the role of taxation in supporting national economic growth.

Promoting tax awareness and compliance

The event, held through virtual conferencing, aimed to improve understanding of the country’s tax regulations among business sectors. Experts from the FTA highlighted common errors and ways to avoid them, explaining the various educational tools the Authority offers to help taxpayers comply efficiently and accurately.

Collaboration for economic development

The session reflected the shared strategic vision of both entities to foster a business-friendly environment that encourages investment and promotes sustainable economic development. The SEDD reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing cooperation with federal and local partners to deliver services aligned with international best practices and to support Sharjah’s economic growth.

Engaging the business community

Participants included investors from various sectors who discussed their experiences with tax procedures and raised questions about implementation challenges. The dialogue helped to raise awareness, enhance understanding of recent tax updates, and ensure a smooth application of the tax system across all business activities.

FTA experts wrapped up the session by addressing participants’ questions and emphasising the importance of accuracy in executing tax procedures. The session demonstrated how taxation, when effectively managed, acts as a vital tool for economic stability and encouraging investment.
