A key highlight of this year's participation is the collaboration with Al Hamriyah Municipality to inaugurate the "Community Farm" initiative. This project serves as a practical model of integration between the municipality and local community members, featuring a variety of agricultural crops such as vegetables and fruits, alongside apiaries for honey production. The farm promotes agricultural sustainability and nurtures cooperation and solidarity within the community.
In cooperation with various municipalities across Sharjah, the department distributed more than 3,000 seedlings to government entities, schools, and park visitors as part of its efforts to expand green spaces. Additionally, awareness activities in schools aimed at educating students about the importance of agriculture and afforestation, encouraging them to participate actively in planting and caring for seedlings, and fostering early environmental awareness.
His Excellency Sultan Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs, emphasised that the department’s involvement in Tree Planting Week seeks to strengthen community engagement and promote environmental responsibility. He highlighted the department’s commitment to expanding green spaces and enhancing the quality of life in Sharjah. Similarly, His Excellency Sheikh Engineer Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Department, reaffirmed the department’s dedication to environmental sustainability and community participation, emphasising the importance of fostering environmental awareness and green development for a sustainable future.
The department concluded its participation by underscoring its ongoing initiatives to promote environmental and community engagement.
