SCC Legislative Committee meets Municipal Council on cooperation

Sharjah24: The Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions and Complaints Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) held a coordination meeting with the Chairman and members of the Municipal Council to discuss frameworks for cooperation in legislative and legal affairs and in the field of legal legislation, as part of the Committee’s work for the third ordinary session of the eleventh legislative term.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Municipal Council in Sharjah and attended by His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Committee, and a number of members, namely Obaid Ishaq Al Mazmi, Rapporteur of the Committee, Hamad Abdullah Al Riyami, Khalifa Mohammed Bughanem and Hamad Abdulwahab Al Qawadhi, and from the General Secretariat of the Council, Saif bin Suwaif Al Ketbi, Secretary. Discussions focused on the committee’s mandate and on complaints and proposals submitted to municipal councils.

The Sharjah Municipal Council was attended by His Excellency Salem Ali Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Council, and Council members Khamis Saif bin Suwaif, Khalid Rashid Khalifa Al Muhairi, Jihad Rashid Al Zaabi, Essa Obaid bin Ghanem, Aisha Ahmed Al Mutawa, Saif Salem Al Suwaidi and Abdullah Salem Bousmanwa.

After welcoming the two sides, they discussed the current legislative work processes and ways to keep the legal articles abreast of developments and challenges in the municipal and construction sectors, and proposed the necessary amendments, while emphasising the importance of prior coordination in the drafting of legal projects and regulations to ensure their integration with the Emirate’s general policies and strategic vision.

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance continuous cooperation between the two councils by holding periodic coordination meetings to facilitate the exchange of information and experiences in areas of common interest, thereby strengthening role integration and improving the efficiency of institutional work.
