Following a 1–0 defeat to Monaco two rounds earlier, the capital side had surrendered first place to surprise package Lens, before restoring balance last week with an emphatic 5–0 win over Rennes and then overcoming Metz. PSG’s goals were scored by Portuguese forward Gonçalo Ramos (31), Quentin N’Gantou (39) and substitute Désiré Doué (63), while Jessy Deminguet (42) and Georgian Giorgi Tsitaishvili (80) netted for Metz.
The win marked PSG’s 16th consecutive victory over Metz, including eight straight away successes in Ligue 1, lifting their tally to 36 points, two ahead of second-placed Lens. Metz remained bottom with 11 points.
The positive result comes ahead of PSG’s trip to Doha, where they will face Flamengo in the Intercontinental Cup on Wednesday, following the Brazilian side’s semi-final victory over Egypt’s Pyramids.
