Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) announced that the “Dirham Al-Hamd” service, launched in 2017, has contributed since then until the end of 2024 to funding a variety of charitable projects exceeding AED 23 million. This has made it one of the key sources supporting the SCI’s programmes, particularly those targeting needy groups inside and outside the UAE.

Strengthening charitable initiatives

The “Dirham Al-Hamd” service of the SCI continues to enhance its role as one of the initiatives supporting general charity programmes, through a low-value daily donation model that allows all members of the community to participate in charitable work, whether by building a mosque, supporting a productive project for a widow practising a handicraft, or many other areas of general charity.

Automatic daily deduction of one dirham

The service relies on automatically deducting just one dirham from subscribers’ balances daily, without requiring any additional steps from the donor.

Funding a variety of charitable projects

Mohammed Rashid Bin Bayat, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Charity International (SCI), confirmed that the service, launched in 2017, has contributed since then until the end of 2024 to funding various charitable projects exceeding AED 23 million, making it one of the key resources for the SCI's programmes, particularly those targeting needy groups inside and outside the country.

Umbrella for general charity

The Vice Chairman explained that what distinguishes “Dirham Al-Hamd” is also its inclusiveness, as it is not limited to a single project but falls under the umbrella of general charity that funds dozens of charitable initiatives. This broadens the impact of the donation and provides donors with the opportunity to contribute to multiple charitable fields at the same time.
