Sharjah 24: The UAE Modern Pentathlon Team won eight medals—five silver and three bronze—across biathlon, triathlon, and laser-run events in its inaugural World Championship appearance, which was held in Mossel Bay, South Africa, with 1,800 athletes competing.

The 9-year-old boys' team won silver in the biathlon team event, silver in the triathlon team event, and bronze in the laser-run team event, led by Saeed Al Ketbi, Mohamed Al Qaidi, and Hamdan Al Qaidi.

Adel Al Nuaimi, Khalid Abdullah, and Saeed Salem Al Kathiri helped the 40-year-old squad win three silver medals in biathlon, triathlon, and laser run.

In the senior men's category, the UAE won bronze in both the laser run and the triathlon team event, with Abdullah Mohammed Abdulrahman, Hamad Essa Al Dosari, and Ahmed Rashid Salem representing the team.

The delegation was accompanied by Dr Huda Al Matroushi, President of the Modern Pentathlon Federation; board members Adnan Al Hashmi and Ahmed Al Badi; and coaches Abdullah Al Eidi and Mohamed Qasim.

Dr Al Matroushi expressed her joy with the team's first worldwide participation, stating that all athletes rose to the situation and worked tirelessly to secure this historic international victory.
