Khorfakkan to host final round of Wooden Powerboat Championship

The event is organised by the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, supervised by the UAE Marine Sports Federation, and sponsored by MAG Holding. This round will play a decisive role in determining the season's champion.

One of the UAE's most ancient maritime heritage sports

Dhow racing is among the UAE’s oldest maritime heritage sports. Competitors use traditional wooden boats equipped with engines, continuing a maritime tradition that historically shaped fishing, transportation, and trade in the region. Today, the sport preserves authenticity while drawing new generations to this cultural practice.

The kilometer breaker race

The final round will feature a kilometer breaker race alongside the main race, with the championship title potentially decided in the closing moments due to the tight points standings.

Aref Al Zafeen leads the overall rankings with 63 points aboard the boat Al Mushakhis 33, partnered by Yousef Al Sabouri. He is narrowly followed by Mohammed Saeed Suhail with 62 points aboard Hayyaf, partnered by Ahmed Khamis.

Third place is held by Al Mushakhis 20, with 53 points, partnered by Majid Al Khalaf and Ismail Al Marzouqi, while Jassim Al Dakheel remains in fourth with 50 points aboard Raheeb Al Kuwaiti 7, partnered by Hussein Haider Saber.

Technical and organisational aspects completed

The organising committee confirmed that all technical and organisational arrangements for the final round have been completed, ensuring a smooth and fitting conclusion to the championship.
