6th Sharjah International Youth Basketball Tournament kicks off

Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Sharjah Ruler’s Office in Khorfakkan, attended the opening of the Sharjah International Youth Basketball Tournament on Sunday evening at the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre. The tournament features 43 teams, comprising more than 600 male and female players from 11 countries, and will run until 30 December 2025.

Organisation and partners

The tournament is organised by the Sharjah Sports Council, in cooperation with Khorfakkan Cultural and Sports Club and Jam Sports Academy.

Wide international participation

His Excellency Salem Mohammed Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Khorfakkan Cultural and Sports Club, stated that the tournament has attracted 43 teams representing 11 countries from Europe, the Arab world and the Gulf, with a total of 600 male and female players, in what is the sixth edition of the tournament.

A record of continued success

In statements to “Sharjah 24,” Al Naqbi affirmed that reaching the sixth edition reflects the ongoing success achieved by the tournament in its previous editions.

Sporting and tourism opportunity

Al Naqbi explained that the tournament offers a distinctive opportunity for players and coaches to enjoy the sporting and tourism atmosphere for which the city of Khorfakkan is known, wishing all participants every success.
