Sharjah24 - AFP: The film “One Battle After Another” dominated the Golden Globes on Sunday, winning Best Comedy and emerging as the night’s biggest winner with four awards from nine nominations. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as an aging revolutionary and also secured prizes for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress for Teyana Taylor.

Anderson thanked audiences for their support, noting the film’s strong connection with viewers during a period of deep political division in the United States.

Chalamet Triumphs in lead actor category

Despite the film’s success, DiCaprio missed out on the Best Actor award, which went to Timothée Chalamet for his role as an ambitious 1950s table tennis player in Marty Supreme. Chalamet said the win was especially meaningful after four previous Golden Globe losses and thanked his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.

Surprise drama win for ‘Hamnet’

The ceremony’s biggest upset came when “Hamnet” won Best Drama Film, defeating the expected frontrunner Sinners. The film imagines the emotional life of William Shakespeare and his wife following the death of their son.

Producer Steven Spielberg praised director Chloé Zhao, who dedicated the award to cast and crew members who lost loved ones during production.

Acting honors and other film winners

Jessie Buckley won Best Drama Actress for her role in Hamnet.

Sinners received awards for Best Score and Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.

Norwegian film Sentimental Value earned Best Supporting Actor for Stellan Skarsgård.

Rose Byrne won Best Comedy Actress for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.

Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters claimed Best Song and Best Animated Film.

Television winners shine

In television categories, teen drama “Adolescence” led with four wins.

“The Pitt” won Best Drama Series, while “The Studio” took Best Comedy Series.

Political messages on the red carpet

Brazilian thriller “The Secret Agent” won Best Non-English Language Film, with actor Wagner Moura also taking home an award. Several stars wore pins reading “BE GOOD” in tribute to Renee Good, whose death has fueled renewed protests in the United States. Actress Jean Smart echoed the message after winning for Hacks, saying: “Let’s do the right thing.”
