ELIA and University of Khorfakkan strengthen collaboration

Sharjah24: The Emirates Library and Information Association signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Khorfakkan on the sidelines of the Second Emirates Libraries Forum. The agreement aims to strengthen ties and exchange expertise between the two parties, contributing to the development of concepts and services related to the library and information sector, enhancing the efficiency of professionals, and expanding access to knowledge resources in line with international best practices and standards.

The agreement was signed by Fahd Al Maamari, Chairman of the Emirates Library and Information Association, and Dr Saif Al Naqbi, Vice President for Community Affairs at the University of Khorfakkan.

Areas of collaboration

The agreement covers a range of collaborative areas, including the coordination of community programmes, the organisation of specialised events such as conferences, workshops, and training programmes, provision of professional consultancy, active participation in regional and international bodies, support for the collection and dissemination of reliable data, and the development of library services offered to the community.

The agreement aligns with the shared mission of both parties to support knowledge communities, promote cultural awareness, and contribute to achieving the United Arab Emirates’ sustainable development goals.
