The agreement was signed by Fahd Al Maamari, Chairman of the Emirates Library and Information Association, and Dr Saif Al Naqbi, Vice President for Community Affairs at the University of Khorfakkan.
The agreement covers a range of collaborative areas, including the coordination of community programmes, the organisation of specialised events such as conferences, workshops, and training programmes, provision of professional consultancy, active participation in regional and international bodies, support for the collection and dissemination of reliable data, and the development of library services offered to the community.
The agreement aligns with the shared mission of both parties to support knowledge communities, promote cultural awareness, and contribute to achieving the United Arab Emirates’ sustainable development goals.
Fahd Al Maamari emphasised that signing the agreement reflects the association’s commitment to building effective strategic partnerships with national academic institutions. He noted that this collaboration will advance the library and information sector, enhance knowledge exchange, and prepare qualified professionals capable of keeping pace with rapid developments in this vital sector. He highlighted that cooperation with the University of Khorfakkan represents a significant addition to the association’s journey, particularly in professional training and development, community initiatives, and advancing research related to libraries and information.
Dr Saif Al Naqbi stated that the agreement is part of the University of Khorfakkan’s approach to expanding partnerships with specialised professional institutions, benefiting students, researchers, and the wider community. He emphasised that the university is committed to supporting initiatives that foster cultural and knowledge awareness, meet international standards, serve the community, and contribute to sustainable development goals.
