Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, honoured the six winners of the 2025 edition of the Great Arab Minds initiative at the Museum of the Future in Dubai.

Celebrating Arab achievement and innovation

Great Arab Minds is the largest Arab initiative dedicated to recognising outstanding Arab contributions in research, development, innovation, technology, culture, and architecture, while showcasing Arab talent regionally and globally.

Supporting emerging and established talent

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that the initiative nurtures and invests in Arab talent, reinforces pride in Arab achievement, and celebrates individuals whose work inspires progress in key fields.

2025 award winners

The winners of the 2025 edition included Professor Abbas El Gamal in Engineering and Technology, Dr Nabil Seidah in Medicine, Professor Badi Hani in Economics, Professor Majed Chergui in Natural Sciences, Dr Suad Amiry in Architecture and Design, and Professor Charbel Dagher in Literature and Arts.

Achievements of the awardees

Dr Seidah was recognised for his medical research in cardiovascular health. Professor Hani received the award for pioneering work in econometrics and economic analysis. Professor El Gamal was honoured for his contributions to network information theory. Professor Chergui was celebrated for his research on light-matter interactions and ultrafast molecular dynamics. Dr. Amiry was recognised for preserving Palestinian architectural heritage, and Professor Dagher for his work on Arab and Islamic arts, calligraphy, and modern visual arts.

The awardees expressed their gratitude and emphasised the significance of recognition from a pan-Arab initiative in motivating their continued work and inspiring younger generations.

Specialised committees and nomination process

The winners were selected by six high-level specialised committees chaired by experts in each field, supported by additional academics, government officials, and international specialists. The nominations committee included senior figures from both government and the private sector.

Widely known as the “Arab Nobel,” the Great Arab Minds initiative continues to strengthen its role as a platform for celebrating Arab creators, inspiring young talent, and contributing to the region’s participation in global knowledge and civilisational advancement.
