Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the Dubai Metro Gold Line, the emirate’s largest sustainable transport project, and directed the immediate commencement of works.

AED 34 billion mega project

The new line represents an investment of around AED 34 billion and will span 42 kilometres with 18 stations. It will be Dubai’s first fully underground metro line and will expand the city’s mass transit network significantly.

Strategic connectivity across Dubai and the UAE

The Gold Line will link with the Red and Green Metro lines and integrate with Etihad Rail, strengthening connectivity across Dubai and the wider UAE transport network. It will serve key residential, commercial, and development hubs across 15 strategic locations.

Major boost to mobility and urban growth

Designed to support over 1.5 million people and more than 55 major development projects, the line is expected to become a key backbone of Dubai’s mobility system, easing congestion and improving travel efficiency across the emirate.

Fast-track delivery and long-term impact

Construction is set to begin immediately following tendering in 2026, with completion scheduled for 9 September 2032—30% faster than the Blue Line timeline. Officials say the project will deliver major economic, environmental, and quality-of-life benefits, reinforcing Dubai’s global competitiveness.
